Biography

Beginning in 2011, iconic vocalist Wade Black sought to put together a band that would deliver on his vision of what metal should be. Like a fine instrument of war, the lineup of the band has been refined and redefined over the years, leading to the ultimate combination of lethal metal skills. War of Thrones now features long-time member bass virtuoso Richard Marks, the merciless Mark Roberts on guitar, and thunderous Joe Zapantis on drums. War of Thrones stands ready to take up the metal cause as they tour word-wide bringing Conflict and Creation to the masses.

Wade is no stranger to metal. For more than two decades, Wade has thrilled audiences worldwide fronting such legendary metal bands Crimson Glory, Seven Witches, and Leatherwolf. Wade honed his songwriting skills in 2003, working with Rick to form Leash Law. Wade is the primary lyricist for War of Thrones and has conjured an unprecedented collection of twisted tales. Some of Wade’s early recordings with Lucian Blaque is featured in 2011's Donovan's Echo which starred Danny Glover, and most recently, 2012's The Grey with Liam Neeson. Wade is constantly sought after to record guest vocals on albums from bands around the world, most recently on the Vivaldi Metal Project album The Four Seasons.

Richard Marks is the cornerstone on which War of Thrones stands. Rich’s style not only adds incredible tone to the songs, but also whips the material into an amazing whirlwind of power. Although relatively unknown to the masses, Rich will quickly be regarded as one of the best players in the industry. Rich’s incredible dexterity and style reflect a virtuosity and shred intensity that is seldom seen among bass players. His amazing skill earned him a guest slot on the Vivaldi Metal Project album The Four Seasons.

Assuming command as lead guitarist is Matt Roberts. Matt is a 16-year veteran of the Tampa metal scene, having established himself as a prominent shredder in the area with his former band, Psyaxis. He has worked with Marco Minemmann (Joe Satriani, The Aristrocrats, Necrophagist), Todd LaTorre (Queensryche, Crimson Glory), and Jeramie Kling (Venom, The Absence). Matt's speed, style, instrumental prowess and raw metal energy bring a new intensity to the War of Thrones.
War of Thrones has taken a two-prong attack to get the drumming section they needed to deliver Conflict and Creation. For the recording of the album, Patrick Johansson (Yngwie Malmsteen, G3, Stormwind) brought his world-renowned skills to the sessions, Joe Zapantis will be Hammering out the war beats live. Joe brings more than a decade of professional experience to the kit, along with a blend of styles ranging from jazz to rock to full-on metal. His experience with such acts as Unequaled Clarity, Short Fuse and Jean Baudin, along with extensive study with the likes of Greg Bissonette, Marco Minnemenn, and Pete Magadini have equipped him with the skills to take things to the next level.

With years together already honing their songs and live performance, War of Thrones is poised to take on the world.
